What we collect
Nothing, unless you create an account. The Shelter app works entirely offline. No analytics, no tracking, no cookies on this website.
On-device data
All household data — kit items, documents, family plans — is stored exclusively on your device. It never leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.
Document vault contents are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is derived from your PIN and never stored. We cannot access your data. Nobody can.
If you create an account (future)
Account functionality is not yet available. When it is, we will collect your email address and a hashed password only. These are used for subscription management and content updates. No household data, no documents, no family information is ever transmitted to our servers.
Account data will be stored on Infomaniak servers in Geneva, Switzerland. Infomaniak is subject to Swiss law and the EU adequacy decision, which means your data receives GDPR-equivalent protections.
Third-party services
None. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting services. This website sets no cookies and makes no third-party requests.
The app uses OpenStreetMap tiles via Maplibre for offline maps. Tile data is downloaded and cached locally. No usage data is sent to OpenStreetMap or any mapping service.
Your rights under GDPR
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679), you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
- Rectification — request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Erasure— request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
- Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@shelterapp.eu. We will respond within 30 days.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. In Switzerland, this is the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
